Personal Statement

To All Whom will read,

I am Tevin I. Taylor; I am a 6`3 200 lbs` graduate from flint Southwestern Classical Academy. I am a 3-year varsity player and a two-year starting team captain. Some of my accomplishment are as followed for my junior campaign: honorable mention all Saginaw valley league honors, All-Academic, & Honorable mention all-State. During my senior campaign my accomplishments are as followed as well as; 1st team All Saginaw valley league, All-State, M-live Dream Team, All Academic, Team MVP, Team Community service leader. Also, please not let me forget I received honor roll awards every year, citizenship awards since elementary school. I have played on AAU teams such as Flint Affiliation of Flint, Flints Finest, Flint Pal, Saginaw Underdogs of Saginaw Michigan. During Nationals at Spiece gymnasium with Flints Finest of my final AAU season I averaged 20+ points per game, 6 assists, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals in the Spiece Nationals tournament in Indiana.

My collegiate goals and aspirations are very clear.  My goal is to major in Business Administration with a minor in sport management.  It is my goal to excel as a successful Entrepreneur during and after my professional basketball career.  My main goal is to graduate from college.  I think I am capable of being a great player for any team because of my work ethic and my thirst to always get better.    What makes me different from other recruits is that while I’m humble and I look for growth I’m also confident about my game and I’m a born leader.  My academics I feel that it goes hand and hand with being a student athlete.  I apply the same hard-work and determination in the classroom as I do on the court.  I know that academics will play a huge part in my overall long term success. Lastly, in reference to my character; my foundation in this department is solid and very strong.

My parents have instilled in me three things – Faith, Prayer, and heart.  I apply these three things on a daily basis.  My faith keeps me confident because I know that I will succeed; prayer keeps me going because my relationship with God will guide me in life And heart is the greatest asset a man can possess to affect those around him. My dream has always been to compete at the highest level, because I bring to the game a sense of knowledge, leadership, and flow where I can think the game and understand how I can get my teammates involved in the game.Raised on the North Side of flint Michigan has not been easy but I have always been thankful for the opportunities that came my way whether I passed it by or caught it along the way, nothing is given which I was raised to put God first and everything else will fall in place.

Sincerely, Tevin Taylor
