Personal Statement
I believe in unity. I wear a warm up jacket that says “Don’t aspire to be the best on the team, aspire to be the best for the team”. When I swam I trained with Jim Richardson for 7 years. He is the former head coach of their swim team whom now runs their summer camps and clinics. I learned from him to 1, “Don’t get left behind” and 2, failure is not a bad thing. Swimming has strengthened my body, mind, and spirit and I bring this to my basketball mindset.
Basketball cane later to me. 10th grade was my first season playing this sport. I loved it so much I joined an AAU team that spring. No, I haven’t been playing since 1st grade like some. But I continue to seek knowledge of the game and improve my skills to be a better teammate and athlete.
My family has also influenced my basketball love. I have watched my cousins both play collegiately and one cousin now plays Pro in Europe. As did my Uncle. The drive to succeed in what you love and put forth the effort to achieve this, and see it come to fruition? Amazing to see and learn from. I try to do this in all aspects of my life. I am a work in progress. Always wanting to learn and gain knowledge in all I do and set and attain goals.
I am looking for an educational institution that not only fulfills my educational and basketball hopes and dreams, but my dreams of creating a better world for generations to come.
