Personal Statement
I am a 6'5" small forward from Portland, Michigan. I have started on the Portland High School varsity basketball team for 2 years; one year as a sophomore, and the other as a junior. I have been named academic all-conference both years and maintain a 3.83 GPA. As part of my high school curriculum, I have also begun taking "dual enrollment" classes through a local community college.
I am searching for a university that will allow me to pursue my dream to play college basketball as well as challenge me academically. As a student-athlete, I believe that being a student comes before being an athlete. It is very important for me to do well in the classroom in order to give me the opportunity to do well on the court. One of my best qualities is my high basketball I.Q. and whenever I step onto the court, I am confident that no one will play smarter or tougher. Fundamentals are extremely important in my mind and I pride myself on valuing the basketball and making good decisions. I'm not sure yet what type of college would be the best fit for me. I'd love to play at a DI or DII level, but am excited about exploring options at the DIII or NAIA level as well. No matter where I end up pursuing my college dreams, I am willing to be patient, working hard to develop my game, until the opportunity arises for me to contribute to my team!
