Personal Statement
Basketball has taught me many life lessons. By the grace of God,, I have made it to my senior year. I have learned that many of the lessons such as discipline hard work, and sportsmanship is not only good on the court but also off the court. Often times I'm overlooked because I'm not as flashy as most players. I take my job on the court serious because I need to be productive for my team. I work everyday to improve my performance on the court as well as in in classroom. I feel as though I have matured tremendously as a student-athlete since becoming a senior. My short but humbling three years has grown my love for the game. I strive to become a better student-athlete capable of playing at the college level. I will do whatever it takes to play on the next level.
I owe my love for the game to my mother. She taught me to not be afraid of hard work and has helped me realize that what I do off the court is just as important as to what I do on the court. I've learned that teamwork, commitment, sacrifice, and determination are key factors to being successful with anything. I'm looking for a program that will not only challenge me academically and athletically, but will also guide me down the right path to becoming a healthcare professional. My academic goals as a senior is to prepare for college prep courses, build my work ethic, and leadership skills.
Self confidence and fear were the only obstacles that stood in my way. As time has progressed, my mother has helped me tremendously to overcome those obstacles. I'm still young and I have a lot to learn. The goal is to spend the next year developing more as a person and a player so that my skills will speak for me on and off the court. I know with proper training and hard work, I have what it takes to be a great college basketball player.
