Personal Statement
Basketball is by far my favorite sport. I started playing on my elementary school’s basketball team in 3rd grade. In 7th grade, I was invited to play for an elite local club. With some great coaching, my level of play skyrocketed, especially on defense. As a sophomore, I was fortunate enough to play some varsity ball at the state AA tournament. Last year as a junior and this year as a senior, I am a starting varsity forward/center for Butte High School. Beyond basketball, I am the starting varsity tight end and defensive end for BHS football, a varsity high jumper for track (3rd at state), and a strong pitcher / starting first baseman for my American Legion baseball team. And my coaches have recently appointed me to the Butte High Bulldogs Leadership Council.
Just like on the basketball court, I work hard and excel in the classroom. I carry a 4.0 cumulative GPA while taking all available honors and AP classes. My academic rank is 1 of 272 in my class. I am a National Honors Society member, three-time Academic All-State recipient, and consistently on the honor roll. I’m particularly interested in the sciences, especially chemistry. College is still a couple years away, but majoring in a chemistry-related field is likely when the time comes.
Being part of a college basketball program is a very important personal goal. The game, the team, and the challenge are key pieces of who I am. I’ve always been a team player. My goal is to bring the most success to the team as I can in any given situation. The team’s success is my success.
