My name is Caleb Roston and I am a 6'1, 160 lbs senior at Rancho High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am in the Aviation Magnet program and currently a Captian in the AFROTC program. The ultimate goal for myself is to find a school that will accommodate me in the field of becoming a commercial pilot along with utilizing my passion and talents in basketball. I would also like to find that school that will allow me to carry my current AFROTC status as well.
Flying the friendly skies is my ultimate goal but my passion is also playing basketball. This will be my second year on the varsity high school basketball team. During last season as a starter I played 27 games, averaging 7-10 points a game, 2 steals a game and averaged 5.1 rebounds per game. I am currently ranked 17th in the state of Nevada for my graduating class as a shooting guard/small forward. Although I am a shooting guard, I will most often play the small forward position because defensive is where I love to dominate and rebounding is where I feel I am very effective for my team. With my speed, my work ethic, and my ability to want to out jump others who may be taller than me that drives me to keep working harder.
Besides putting in the extra time on the court I also enjoy giving back to the community. At least twice a month myself, my brother and my mom will do food distribution for those in need with The Just One Project. Or I would volunteer my time to packing hygiene/school supply backpacks for homeless teens for Title I HOPE.
What makes me different from others is my ability to see the end result of what I want for my future. I know that I am athletically inclined to play basketball and it is a great segway to get me into school. However, I also understand that I am needing a school that will provide me the tools and support that is needed to become a commerical pilot. What also separates me from others is the tools and leadership skills that I have been taught while being in AFROTC.
