Personal Statement
Since I was a little boy all I knew was hard work. I figured out at a young age that you can’t get anywhere in life without hard work and dedication. So I decided to put hard work and dedication into the game of basketball. Although many would say I’m a really good or elite basketball player I am not where I want to be. My desire and hunger for success will never be fulfilled until I see that I have become the best version of myself. The game of basketball has taught me so many lessons about life such as mental toughness, leadership, playing a role, being humble, taking directions, putting other people before yourself, and most of all trusting God. In the book of Psalms chapter 37:4-6 the Lord tells us “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.” This verse reminds me to keep working hard and put God first before anything. Therefore, I will receive my wants and needs. My faith in God and drive to get better is what sets me apart from other athletes.
