Ever since a young age, I was taught that I would have to work hard and earn everything. My father is a basketball coach and has taught me the game since I was five years old. My father grew up playing basketball and turned my brother and I on to the game from a young age. I quickly fell in love with the game. My father always preached that basketball is not about any individual, it is the ultimate team game. Basketball has taught me that not only do I have to be mentally and physically tough in sports, but also in life. I played for my middle school and high school teams and AAU. Therefore, I had to find a balance academically and athletically. I find a lot of inspiration from stories like Andre Ingram. He worked hard for years and years and after ten years he finally got his shot in the NBA and made the most of it. I have always been a guard and have worked hard for everything I try to achieve. I see a lot of similarities between Andre Ingram’s story and mine. As long as I am given a shot, I will make the most of it. A big accomplishment for me was in my sophomore year when my head varsity coach labeled me “the hardest working player in the gym.” I have always taken pride in my hard work and anything I do whether it be basketball, school or even cleaning the floor in my house. As a guard, you have to be a leader and make those around you better. I always try to lead by example. I would love the opportunity to take my game to the next level and play college basketball. My goal is to get into a great school and work towards earning my degree while maintaining academic excellence. I believe a respected school not only prepares you for a future career, but also prepares you to overcome obstacles and be successful in life. I look forward to establishing a great relationship and being a outstanding asset for your program.
