I started playing basketball around 5 years old. I immediately fell in love with the game, and I haven't looked back since. In my 3 years of varsity basketball, I've learned the importance of your role on the team. I'm not always looking to be the most flashy and quick scoring player. I want to accept and understand my role on a team, and be really good at whatever that role may be. Whether my role is shooting, ball handling, defense, or just being the hardest worker on the court, I want to be consistent with it. In my freshman year of high school, my role was completely different than what it is now. I was a reliable shooter, who could occasionally make plays and put the ball in the basket. Currently, I am the captain of my high school team, and my role has adjusted. I am now a facilitator on the court, and have a much more important role on the team. I understand that I'm not going to come on to a college team and become an outstanding all around player, but I do know that I will be able to find my role to best help the team. My academics are also a source of pride for me, I have a 3.7 gpa and I'm currently taking one AP class. Overall, I am able to accept my role that best suits the team, and I'm excited to continue my basketball career.
