Fred Sanchez '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is Frederick Sanchez. I'm 6'1" and weigh 186. I'm a senior in Evangel Christian High School, located in Queens, New York. I've been playing basketball since I was 13 years old. I became very serious about it when I was 14, and since then it has become my dream to play college basketball. I've played on varsity all four years of high school. I've won several awards, including All-Conference, Tournament MVP, and the Coach's Award. On MaxPreps.com, I am ranked 27th in NYC and have been awarded Player of the Week. I've played for my school, for any leagues in my neighborhood that I've found, and at a few camps. Basketball is my life and I will do anything to help any team I am playing for get the win. I've been captain on my team because my coach sees leadership skills in me. I like to help my teammates get better while at the same time learning from them. I take basketball very seriously, like a job. I stay committed to it, working hard every day. I've practiced in the summer, on breaks, and during school: in the early mornings before school, after school, and late at night. Whether it's in my house, in the park, at the gym, or even walking to school, I practice wherever I can. I've learned that hard work pays off. Basketball is my motivation, it keeps me focused and hungry to fulfill my potential. I am looking for a school where I can play basketball at a competitive college level while earning a degree in Criminal Justice. (I plan on applying for financial aid.) I also want a school where the team is not just a team but a family, where we have chemistry and are like brothers. I would love to be somewhere where I am challenged to become the player I want to be.
