Personal Statement
Hello Coach,
I would like to introduce myself, Mychael J. Mitchell, a 6'2” point guard. I am transferring and will be a fall 2024 sophomore. For three years I attended Northside Christian Academy in N.C. and graduated from Gray Collegiate Academy, in Columbia, S. C., 2023. I am currently attending Central Piedmont Community College. l have played the point guard position in middle school, on all my AAU teams, throughout varsity high school, but also have the versatility to play the shooting guard as well.
While high school team captains, I was also chosen as "All Conference", in N.C. and "All Region" player in S.C. My goal is to continue my education and basketball career in a college that allows me to continue to improve as a player and person. What makes me a good candidate for any college are my leadership skills, commitment, versatility, and work ethic. I truly believe my experience, knowledge and athletic versatility separates me from other candidates.
While I genuinely love basketball, I also understand the value of education, therefore I am a student first and an athlete second. I put as much effort into academics as I do into basketball. Academically, in high school, I took honor classes and college dual enrollment courses, graduating with a 3.7 GPA. As a freshman college student, I currently hold a 3.2 GPA, continuing my education in areas related to sports medicine and kinesiology.
I have had some great coaches, who have not only helped to improve my skills, the understanding of the game of basketball and the team concept but have reinforced the morals and values that my parents have instilled in me. I have learned how to embrace being a "leader," and every day continue to learn different ways to encourage and motivate my teammates, especially when times are tough.
I am interested in hearing from you regarding possible future attendance at your college as a member of your basketball team.
Yours Truly,
Mychael J. Mitchell
