Personal Statement

I am a natural athlete and have always loved playing sports, especially basketball. My first sports were basketball, soccer, football and t-ball at the age of three. By the time I was ten years old, basketball was the only sport I wanted to play and I was committed to playing it well and often. My parents have always supported my desire to play which is why they invested in sports camps, skills camps, personal training and AAU.

My familial support is a tremendous influence in my life. Specifically, because my basketball career to date has not been easy. Because of my height, I have not yet played on a school team. I run faster, block harder and shoot better than most guys trying out each year. Yet, I have not had an opportunity to play for school. I know my dream to play basketball in college is not dead. I know how smart I am, how good I am, how hard I work and how badly I want it. So, I don’t give up. I continue to try out and I continue to love the game of basketball. I am in the gym six-days each week playing basketball and strength training. My parents tell me often that what is meant for me will not pass me by. I believe that God indeed has a plan for my life and that plan includes the game of basketball in some way, shape or form.

On the court, I am nicknamed the floor general because I read the floor and call the plays by looking for opportunities, knowing my team and watching the other team’s players. One of the highlights of my basketball career to date was the “All or Nothing” tournament in Raleigh, NC on April 13, 2019. I led our team in assists and points to win the three-game tournament and I took home the MVP trophy to boot. It was a thrilling day!

  • Very good work with Cameron last night!! Very happy with his form shooting and his floaters! I want him to continue to focus hard on his reverses, both conventional and unconventional, we've got to get those automatic. He did very well on the Ray Allen drill. He made 19 free throws in a row!!! That's a huge deal!!! I think his previous best was 11 in a row. We got up a lot of shots. I was very impressed with his dribble moves up into shots. He's getting soooo quick and smooth at those. I believe he made 13 mid range jump shots in a row!!! And he was way up at 35 mid range shots made (without missing more than 2 in a row) when we had to stop that drill because of time.
