Personal Statement
My name is Quayson Williams; I am a 17-year-old senior at Eastern Guilford High School. In October of 2012, I moved to North Carolina, after residing in Trenton, NJ. Living in New Jersey I was not able to see what the rest of the world had to offer and was in search of a better opportunity. At age 6, I started playing the game of basketball; however, at age 12, I started playing AAU and that is when I began to understand the game as a whole. I knew I was beginning to understand my own abilities and that I was special when I scored 44 points,6 rebounds,5 assist, and 3 steals against a competing AAU team "NJ Pirates", we finished the game with a lost in OT (94-96). I knew I had more to offer and I had more to my game so I had to take it to the next level. The next year, which was my freshmen year I made JV averaging well over 20 points per game for Nottingham High School, the coaching staff wanted me prove to them as well as the team that I was ready for the next level, which was Varsity. After about three games, the coaches saw my abilities to perform at an elite level and moved me to Varsity. Once there I was on a mission to prove to the coaches that they did not make a mistake, and I'm doing whatever it takes to get to the next level. After moving to North Carolina and playing on the Varsity basketball team, I was able to show my full abilities by averaging 13.2 ppg, 3.4 apg, 2.1 rpg with 1.4 spg my sophomore year. By my junior year, I was averaging 19.4 ppg, 4.8 apg, 5.2 rpg, and 3.2 spg. I am in search for a scholarship from an organized college or university that is going to benefit me and push me to the next level academically as well as grow as a team player. Until that day comes, I will continue to work hard and push myself to the limit. I know that I have more to work on and more to improve; I am willing to continue to sweat each day to make my dreams become a reality. -Michael Jordan
