Personal Statement
I want to play basketball in college, I love being on a team and competing and I love being in a gym. I am described by coaches as "an unselfish player who competes at a high level". I believe in the team concept. I play both guard positions and even the post when needed. I'm 6'5", athletic, can shoot the three, defend and rebound well for my position. From my coach, "“Matt is all-around a very good player; last year, he was first-team All-PACIS,” West said. “He’s good on offense, defense, and his leadership is great. I can play him anywhere I want to, because he’s very versatile. Basically, I play him around the perimeter (from point guard to small forward).”
Team Captain, MVP, All Conference, National Honor Society, Crosby Scholar; during the day you can find me in physics, engineering and calculus classes - I'm a math and science kid. I have a strong academic and character background and my coach will never have to worry about me on or off the court. I exceeded my 1000 career points this season. I understand that I represent my coaches, my school and my family in the community and the responsibility it brings. I have been lucky to have had great coaching in the past, who have been influential in my game and life, but I have not scratched the surface of the player I can become. I am looking for a college coach who will help guide me in the future and bring out the best player and person I can be.
My senior year I was named All conference in basketball and baseball and MVP in baseball. Also Outstanding Male Athlete of the year.
