A 6'4 sophomore @ Ravenscroft, I‘m Alex Olander and started on our Varsity team. We had a 22-game season in the NCISAA 4A Conference. We began the year with a win over O'Neal. We went on the a strong winning record and our Ravenscroft Varsity team went undefeated in the TISAC Conference again this year. I earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors as a sophomore. I had a very successful game in the John Wall Holiday Invitational with over 20 points, multiple steals and several rebounds. Then, we had to stop play due to covid and returned mid January to continue our winning season.
This spring and summer, I was invited to play for Coach Jeremy Ellis and Team Loaded NC U16 on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit. We are currently undefeated in circuit play having won all games in both Indianapolis and Spartanburg. We also won 5 games in Suwanee, Georgia to win the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions. Tenacious on defense, I average 2-3 blocks a game and 3-4 steals in tournaments. I think my intensity, will to win and relentlessness on defense sets me apart as a player. My perimeter shooting has improved with each tournament. I am transitioning to a small forward and now, a shooting guard after playing the 4 and 5 most of my life.
To further develop my skills, I train every day. I participate in as many tournaments as possible to transfer skills to court and improve my basketball IQ. I love basketball. This summer, I plan to train @ IMG Academy in Florida and attend several college Elite Camps.
I work hard academically striving for A's in every class. Currently, I am taking three Honors Level classes as a sophomore and my first AP class. My plan is to achieve a 4.0 or higher for the year. I also serve on our school's Crucial Catch team to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. We raised $37,000 this past fall for ACS and were recognized as the leading fundraising high school team in the country. I am also volunteering to pack lunches and deliver lunches to churches and shelters in downtown Raleigh to provide food for the homeless population.
My athletic goal is to play for the most competitive basketball school possible at a college that also has very strong academics. I will contribute an intense competitive edge to a collegiate team, be a leader on the court and work very hard in the classroom. I have high standards for myself in both sports and academics.
Hope you will consider me as a prospect for your program and come see me play in person. Thank you for your consideration.
