Personal Statement

I believe I can be an asset to any program because of my love for the game, being a “team first” player, and my strong desire to become a better player.   I am not afraid to work hard to reach my goals and I am extremely coachable.  I understand I still have work to do to improve my skills but I know I have a great deal of potential that I have yet to achieve.  I am just looking for the opportunity to be part of a program that will allow me to continue my basketball career while academically, I can pursue my intended major of Sport Management.

  • Finishing up, we look at a player that provides a pretty unique presence within a team, Max Chambers. He’s a wiry big man with true size and upside as a floor-stretcher, given his willingness to let shots fly from midrange and three-point territory. Chambers runs both sides of the floor hard and utilizes his length pretty well to rebound the ball. He possesses a great attitude and team-first approach to the game. Next in his development process is working on his ball-handling ability, as it would allow him to pump-fake on the perimeter and then drive to the basket. Coach Dre on Chambers: “Max is a good shooter with a great attitude. He’s a strong off-ball defender and makes hustles plays whenever possible. He needs to improve his ball-handling going forward. Max is a good post player with great potential if he continues to work.” Chambers was able to make nice contributions throughout camp and could be a prospect to watch during his senior season.

  • SHOOTING - Soft shot, nice touch - Use more legs on shot • REBOUNDING - Good positioning on box outs - Be physical, hold contact on box outs • BALLHANDLING - Knows strengths - Continue to work on dribbling and staying low • BALLSCREEN SKILL / UNDERSTANDING - Sprints into screens and rolls hard - Hold contact on screens • PASSING - Good knowledge of where the ball should go - Continue to work on passing in traffic out of the post • INTANGIBLES / MOTOR - Great teammate, wants to improve, great listener - Continue to be more vocal • DEFENSE ON BALL and OFF BALL - Good positioning - Continue to be more physical ; use length more ; lower stance • BASKETBALL IQ / OFF BALL MOVEMENT - Good IQ and awareness - Hustles well • GENERAL COMMENTS - Great teammate, very coachable, good knowledge of the game - Be more physical, assertive and vocal ; continue to work on footwork PAUL BIANCARDI, EVALUATION In ball screens, you do a good job of springing into the screen and then diving hard to the basket. Get your hands up high when you rim roll. You displayed a soft touch inside and need to add muscle to your frame. Biggest suggestion is to live the game low, which means stay in your stance all game long.

  • Finishing up with a player that set the nets ablaze during camp from midrange and three-point territory, Max Chambers. He’s a tough two-way big man that can operate inside or outside the arc, both with great success. Offensively, Chambers can do whatever the team needs, whether it is setting up down low or spotting-up on the perimeter, he’s shown the ability. However, Chambers does prefer to hang out around the elbows, where he is the most efficient. He competes for rebounds on both ends of the floor and plays with a high motor at all times. Next in his development process is improving his ability to score with his back to the basket, as it would make him a dual threat on the offensive end. Coach Robinson on Chambers: “Max can really shoot the ball! He needs to be more aggressive and physical. He can run the pick-and-roll or pick-and-pop exceptionally well. Max needs more confidence, but should develop it with appropriate time. He should continue to work on his ball handling and passing to maximize his potential.” Chambers played quite well during camp and could have a breakout season
