Personal Statement
I would like to focus on my attributes that make me who I am as a young black man. I started playing basketball at eight years old. At that age, like any kid starting something new, I had no idea what I was doing during the first half of the season, but all I knew was that I enjoyed the game. Basketball was competitive, there was a brotherhood on the team that I liked and I wanted to be apart of which groomed me as an athlete. Between that time and current I value being competitive, compassionate, a team player, encourage great team morale and having serious passion and love for the game. Honestly, I breathe, sleep, and eat basketball. With that being said, I'm aware grades are key to playing with a college basketball organization. Academically, I would consider myself an average student. There are times I need extra tutoring depending on the subject or lesson. I contribute just as much effort and energy as I do with basketball to my academics and strive to do better and be better academically, any extracurricular activities and anything that I do. It is important to me to be grounded and humble as a person overall. The field of study that I am interested in is communications. I am currently researching communications and will have a specific lane of study before I graduate high school. I am determined to be the best that I can be as a student and player because I was always taught that putting 150 percent toward anything that I decide to do makes me humble, dedicated and determined. There is no "I" in team. It is important to be a link in an organization that's diverse, welcoming and push all students and players to their highest potential.
