I have always been the tallest kid in my school but not always the most coordinated. By the time I was in the 7th grade, I was already wearing a size 16 shoe. Unfortunately, my mind was not able to figure out how to use my height. Each year I have worked at developing my coordination to improve my game such that, in my junior season I was made captain of my team and I am now averaging 6 blocks per game. Combine this with my intellectual ability to dissect each play, and I have been able to lead my team to numerous victories.
I also enjoy giving back to my community and doing so, through the game of basketball. I volunteer regularly with our local youth basketball program – teaching fundamentals to the kids and also refereeing their games. I hope to continue my involvement with the game of basketball far beyond my college years, which is why I want to major in sports management / marketing.
