Personal Statement
Hi! My name is Carson Houck, and I am a junior at Cory - Rawson High School. My parents, teachers, coaches and family have helped me become the young man I am today. I started playing basketball around the age of 4 with my grandfather. He taught me the basic fundamentals of the game and stressed the importance of shooting correctly. I was blessed to be able to spend numerous hours with him teaching me to catch and shoot without thinking.
While playing basketball, I have developed a hard work ethic and leadership skills. I have learned the importance of discipline on and off the court, as well as how my attitude and behavior influences those around me. On my Club Team, I was often competing against kids who were significantly larger than me in height and body type. It was during those games I had to learn how to play bigger and smarter than my competition. I believe that experience, along with my hand-eye coordination are my biggest advantages on the court.
My high school goals are to become a member of the National Honor Society, graduate in the top 10 in my class, and become a 2 sport Varsity starter.
