Personal Statement

I play  baseball, football and basketball. My true Love is basketball. I am also involved FCCLA,choir, show choir and school plays. I played  AAU basketball this year with Brutus Hoops..  I attended 2 college camps this year at Urbana and Heidelberg Universities gaining knowledge of what is expected at the next level of play. I became interested in basketball in my 5th grade year, when I really realized my true potential and how fun it was to play and compete. I physically play bigger than I am and am strong under the basket. I am continually working on my game to improve. Academically I would like to get my GPA above 3.0, as well as graduate college with the same standards.

  • Ethan, First off we are glad you came to camp, hope you had a great experience while you were there we loved the energy and effort you brought on the court. As for areas to improve shooting, dribbling, offensive moves are the areas I will critique and then I'll talk about some skills that don't show up in the stats. Shooting: Ethan your shot is a different in terms of your form. There is nothing wrong with that you are consistent in knocking down that 15-18 ft jumper to be more of a threat on the perimeter. Ball Handling: This is probably your weakest area, you have an ok handle in the open court but you need to improve your handle in the half court. Especially if you are thinking about playing at the next level. The way to do that is going out and practicing at a high level every day for about an hour. Offensive moves:Your back to the basket game is solid the moves you make are good and you consistently get a high percentage shot off around the rim. If your going to move up to the next level you have to be able to score and get hi percentage shots from the perimeter and create shots for others.working on jab series moves and foot work every day will help improve that area. IQ, Coaching, Playing Hard: These 3 areas are just as important as shooting and dribbling. your are very good at all 3 of them, I think you have a good basketball IQ you pick things up fairly quick meaning you have a good IQ. You very coachable you take what coach is saying and try your hardest to execute that task to the best of your abilities, You also handle being coached well. Finally one of the most important aspects is playing hard and competing every time you step on the hard wood. I loved that about your game you were not afraid to mix it up with anyone and get after it. Take this information and use it to your advantage. -- Bryan Wickliffe Men's Assistant Basketball Coach Head Mens and Women Tennis Coach Heidelberg University
