I do not know how exactly to communicate to you my desire to be the best player my high school has ever produced, and how that desire is directly related to my dream to play basketball in college. My mother was captain of the Penn State women's golf team her senior year (1995). I have learned a lot about the dedication and work ethic that are required of a college athlete from her. I am not intimidated by those expectations, and in truth I look forward to them. My dad says that I am focused and driven like my older brother Michael, who has followed his dream to be a concert tubist, graduating first from Carnegie Mellon in tuba performance, then from Yale with his graduate degree. He won his audition to become a professional member of the Naval Academy band, joined the Navy, and now performs as a tubist. I am very proud to be compared to him, because if I can accomplish as a basketball player, half of what he has accomplished as a tuba player, I will be a highly successful college basketball player. I have a strong relationship with my older sister who is also a driven high school volleyball player, singer, and musical theatre performer who will soon attend the University of Pittsburgh as a freshman in fall 2023.
My goals as a high school player are to find team success in the state tournament at the AA level, to help my teammates find their way onto our school records, to be the all-time leading scorer at Curwensville, all-time assists, and rank highly in other statistical areas including rebounding and steals. I want to be named as a multiple-time all-conference and all-district player, to take my team deep into the state playoffs. I know my goals are no different than many high school players who also want to play college basketball, so I would like for any prospective coach to know that when you recruit me, you are getting a person that, as my mom says, is "All-in, all the time." I get private lessons from former Penn State varsity starter and professional basketball player, Tyler Smith of State College, and plan to attend many camps and play AAU again this summer entering my senior year. I am currently ranked in the top 10 percent of my class and have been inducted into the National Honor Society. My academic standards are high.
I look forward to hearing from you and finding out about your program so that I may make the best choice of school, coach, and team for my future.
