My name is Ferdinando Mirarchi and I go by Nando. I was a multi-sport athlete but have always had basketball as my first love. I have set really high goals for myself, and I want to play basketball in college at the most competitive levels. But I also want a college that will help me grow as an individual. I am at all times the best person and player I can be both on and off the courts. I am hoping to find in a program, both educational instructors and coaches, that share my belief - I work hard and by working hard I will inspire.
It’s part of my make up to get better. From the moment my mom but a ball in my hands, all I have done was look to improve. From the moment my parents placed me in school, all I have done was look to excel. As soon as I was eligible for advanced placement classes I told my parents I wanted to take them. I have always been a team player on the court or classroom providing encouragement or assisting where I can.
Currently I am in high school and take a combination of honors and advanced placement classes. In basketball, I work with skill and strength trainers as well as play on teams that are older than I am. I am a class of 2026 and I regularly compete at class levels of 2025, 2024 and 2023. I put this effort in both academically and with respect to basketball to attain the necessary skill set to succeed at the college level.
Thus far in my educational journey, in the 2022-2023 school year, I attended McDowell High School and played Varsity as a Freshman at the 6A level. I was the the MVP of the District 7 Championship and went 9 for 10 from the free throw line in the 4th quarter. At the conclusion of the school year my parents made a decision to transfer me back into the Parochial School System for the 2023-2024 academic and athletic season and I will be attending Cathedral Prep in Erie PA.
My plans at this stage in my life are to graduate from High School and prepare for the next level and will be focusing on what Universities I would like to attend. Until that time, I plan to keep working to improve so that those programs I choose will see a mutual fit.
In closing, I am the type of person and player that will bring dedication, flexibility strong work ethic and motivation. I look forward to learning about your academic and basketball program.
