Hi, I’m Nik Nordberg. I started playing basketball in first grade and fell in love with it immediately. I love basketball because it can be challenging, and you can control the game with smart decisions. I want to continue to play in college because I love the challenge, atmosphere, and to continue learning from players and coaches at the next level.
I go to a small school and would like to qualify for districts and eventually states with my teammates. I've been a varsity starter since my freshman year and as a sophomore, was named team captain. As a sophomore I made 1st team all conference and led the league (18 teams) in 3PM--44 (44%). I also averaged 15.9 PPG (53%). As a freshman I led the league in FT% (85.4) and averaged 9.8 PPG. I hold the Hoop Group record for made threes in 2 minutes--32.
I am not afraid of hard work. I am in the gym several hours every day and log all my shots. From March to June I MADE more than 25,000 3 pointers.
I maintain a 4.03 GPA and was recently named to the National Honor Society. I plan to major in engineering in college.
It is really important to me to volunteer and share my love of the game. I coach 6 and 7 year-olds once a week after school. I also referee and coach the youth basketball program on Saturdays during the winter. And in the summer, I am a coach and trainer for our basketball youth camp.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my personal statement. I enjoy working hard and will always put my team before personal achievements.
