Personal Statement
Hi, I’m Nik Nordberg. I started playing basketball in first grade and fell in love with it immediately. I love basketball because it can be challenging, and you can control the game with smart decisions. I want to continue to play in college because I love the challenge, atmosphere, and to continue learning from players and coaches at the next level.
I led my conference in FT % as a freshman (85.7) along with 40 3PM, led the conference in 3PM as a sophomore in a covid year (44) and was named 1st team all conference, and as a junior playing at a basketball prep school I set the school record for 3s in a game (11) and 3s in a season (77-47.1%) in only a 17-game season. But I want to win even more than personal stats. In my junior year, many of my teammates were international students and I am proud that I helped them both on and off the court become better players. I became a go-to leader and friend.
I maintain a 4.0 GPA and am in the National Honor Society. I plan to major in business or international business in college.
It is really important to me to volunteer and share my love of the game. I coach 6 and 7 year-olds once a week after school. I also referee and coach the youth basketball program on Saturdays during the winter. And in the summer, I am a coach and trainer for our basketball youth camp.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my personal statement. I enjoy working hard and will always put my team before personal achievements.
Sincerely,
Nik Nordberg
