My name is Logan Yonkoske and I am a junior at Northern Cambria High School. For years, my goal has been to play basketball at the collegiate level while obtaining a degree in a form of engineering.
Throughout my high school career, my team has not had much success. Despite of this, I have never let the losses discourage me but instead used it to push myself to get better and achieve more. My love for the game has allowed me to put countless hours into the gym without realizing it. I work on my shot every day as well as attending my local recreational center about 5 or 6 days a week. I have attended multiple camps and workouts to learn from those who have more knowledge about the game than I do. I spend hours in my driveway working on my strengths and weaknesses in my game. Also, I started workouts to increase my explosiveness that I do by myself. Lastly, after every workout I do, I end with 10 made free throws in a row. If I miss, I begin again.
I believe that my work ethic and love for the game of basketball has formed me to be a leader, now more than ever due to me entering my senior year. I try to lead by example as well as being a vocal leader on the court.
There is nothing I want more than to play basketball at the next level. The amount of knowledge and improvement I can gain infatuates me. Therefore, I truly hope I am given the opportunity to continue my career into college.
