Personal Statement
Dear coach
I hope all is well. My name is Mucyo Sheriff and I spent this past season at Scotland Campus as a post graduate. I attended Dobbs Ferry High School in NY, which is a small school and I often had to play out of position. Despite being 6-foot-5, I had to play at the four and five spots, and therefore I felt I didn't fully have the opportunity to utilize the scoring skill set I possessed.
Thus, I elected to take a post graduate year at Scotland Campus in Pennsylvania, where I worked under known program builder Chris Chaney. Being at Scotland gave me the opportunity to polish up my guard skill set and also have more freedom to shoot outside shots, which is the best attribute of my game.
As a natural shooter and a guy who comes off the ball ready to catch and stick , this transition to the two guard position greatly benefitted my scoring. I had several games in which I scored 18 points on the strength of six 3-pointers. In addition to this, I was able to get stronger and devote more focus to getting into basketball shape.
Playing against older competition and several junior colleges prepared me for the challenges that will wait at the next level. I also used the post graduate experience to understand the time management concepts which will benefit me in college.
This worked to my advantage, as I was able to appropriately balance school and an arduous around the clock basketball schedule that included early morning workouts as well as long road trips.
With my shot-making ability and my high order commitment to academics, along with my outgoing personality and the support of my amazing family, I believe I have the right ingredients to have an impactful and memorable college basketball career. I am currently seeking scholarship and financial aid opportunities and have attached my film below. Your time and help is appreciated.
Thank you!
