Personal Statement
I was barely out of diapers when I balanced excitedly on the edge of my seat and watched my big brother help his team clinch the win at a state basketball tournament. At home, I had every size basketball and hoop gradually changing the circumference and height of each as I grew. My life revolved around basketball. I spent hours in the gym perfecting my shot, my ball handling, my defensive stance, and my offensive moves. I played for my home team, and spent the off season with a traveling team hitting as many tournaments as possible. I also led the football team in receiving yards, and ran the fastest time on the track team in the 200 and 400.
I have learned that I can adapt to any coach no matter what his expectations. I have played center, power forward, point guard, and shooting guard. Depending on the directives of the coach, I have led the team in assists, three pointers, two pointers, rebounds, and drives. I will do whatever is asked of me so I can be on the court, but I excel when my coach lets me play the game as a smart, alert, aggressive shooting forward. I just want to go to work on the court for someone who loves the game like I do, and recognizes that I would an asset to their program.
