Personal Statement
Growth mindset. Challenge. Hard work. I strive to live my life using these qualities.
My main college goals are to become a better all around person, to use the skills I learn in the classroom to complete a job to the best of my abilities, and to help lead my teammates to a great season of basketball. I plan to work hard in and out of the classroom, on and off the court. Throughout my basketball career, I have learned that it is my passion. I am committed and it keeps me accountable while challenging me and allowing me to do what I enjoy most. I have had a few injuries, but instead of letting that frustrate me, I’ve used those experiences to become a better player and teammate through perseverance and understanding of the game. One of the best basketball experiences of my life was when I went to my first PGC camp while I had a broken foot. Although I wasn’t able to play, the explanation and studying of the game in the classroom were phenomenal. I believe I got more out of it than I would have if I would have been playing!
Another detail about my life is that I have a strong interest in cars. I have a few projects that I am working on, so when I’m not in the gym or studying, you can find me in the garage working on cars.
Also, this past summer, I had a goal to climb the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. On July 25th, 2017 I summited Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. That was one of the greatest experiences of my life and taught me to push myself in the roughest of conditions, even when I thought I had nothing left. These lessons learned will be helpful in the game of basketball and life!
