Personal Statement
My name is Mark Vance Jr. I am currently a sophomore at a Juco being Central Georgia Technical College. I was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. I live at home with both of my parents, four brothers, and one sister. I became interested in basketball at a very young age because I used to watch my sister play. I began my basketball career at the age of five. The sport of basketball has caused me to become more competitive both on and off the court. I have learned how to push myself during practices and games when I feel as though I cannot go any longer. My perseverance on the court has carried into the classroom and motivated me to do my best on all my assignments and tests. My academic goals for high school are to continue making good grades and raising my current GPA. While I am still undecided on what I would like to pursue in college, I do know that I would like to continue my basketball career. I have developed both mentally and physically from playing basketball. I am no longer the short fat kid with an afro that cannot shoot or dribble. Now I push myself everyday through dribbling and shooting drills so that I can continue to develop into a better and more consistent athlete. My devotion to the game today results from how had I work to transition from the short fat kid to a force to be reckoned with on the court.
