To whom it may concern,
I will be graduating from Ector High School in May 2017. I am ranked 5th in my class of 21 with a GPA of 3.6. I am a dedicated student and work hard to keep my grades above average. I am involved in many extra-curricular activities, including sports and academics. I have received honors and awards in both of these areas. I am also employed as a stock clerk at Bonham Wal-Mart since October 2015. I work an average of 15 hours per week.
After graduation, my plans are to attend college to begin my college studies and then transfer to a larger university to further my education. Currently, I am taking two courses, Economics and English, through concurrent enrollment with Ector High School and Grayson County College. Last semester I completed two other courses through the concurrent enrollment and have a current college GPA of 4.0.
I am looking forward to the future and plan on pursuing a degree in Education. I want to teach High School Mathematics and become a basketball coach. I enjoy playing the game of basketball and helping others be the best they can be. I believe that sports can help a child accomplish goals and allows them to be a part of a team. Playing and working together as a team builds leadership characteristics. It can help the future generation grow and help them later in life. Math is a subject that most people do not enjoy, but for me, math has always come easy. I always strive to make high A’s in math. Mathematics is something I could see myself doing for the rest of my life. For me, it is a fun and challenging discipline. It is always changing, and you will rarely have the same problem. The problems are always changing but, the formulas for solving the problems do not.
After junior college, I would like to go to a 4-year university where I could shadow a basketball coach and gain experience for my future employment. Being a basketball coach has been a dream of mine since grade school. My dad was my very first coach, and he has instilled in me the passion of the game. He taught me a lot through basketball. Basketball may be a rough sport, but it can help with many problems. I am not the best when it comes to making new friends but, basketball made it easier. I hope to help children who might face these same problems and inspire them to grow.
I believe I have the discipline and motivation to achieve my goals and with help from scholarships, the financial burden will be lessened.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Ethan Norwood
