Personal Statement

Ever since I was 4 I have been playing basketball. I have obtained a love for the game and I am very passionate about the game of basketball. One goal of mine is to play at the next level at the highest level possible. Every time I step on the court I have the mindset that I am the best player on the court and I believe that is one thing that sets me apart from other athletes. Also I think that being coachable is a great skill I possess that makes me a good candidate for any team.

As hard as I work on the court, I try to work even harder off the court to maintain a high GPA. This was shown as in my freshman year of high school, I took all Pre-AP courses except one and still had the desire and discipline to sustain a 3.8 GPA.  My parents taught me at a young age to work hard in the classroom which fortunately led over to basketball.

Playing alongside 2019 stud Bryce Cook in the backcourt, Kenner is a 6’2 strong guard with broad shoulders, in which he uses to shield off defenders when getting to the rim. Kenner made some timely shots in the game vs. San Antonio Wagner, including a deep 26 foot three-pointer to send the game to overtime. He finished with 21 points in the loss.

  • Karlyn Kenner, of Grand Prairie (TX), is a talented 6'2 180 lb prospect from our All American camp that our college coaches identified as having potential. Karlyn has a disruptive wingspan that gives the player the potential to be a lock down defender in addition to having fantastic size for position that a player can take advantage of offensively and defensively. The player does a fantastic job of distributing the basketball and seeing the floor. The player is always anticipating where and when teammates will be open. In terms of ball handling, it was one of the strongest aspects of the player's game. The player makes great use of change of speed and change of direction Basketball IQ was one of the player's greatest strengths. There was a great emphasis on making the right play, and that will be a big advantage in recruiting. A big part of IQ is shot selection. Karlyn does an excellent job of shooting the basketball with rhythm and really knows a good shot from a bad one. This advantage will continue to develop by watching how this is done at the college level. The prospect was able to consistently knock down shots during camp that will continue to develop with form shooting and reputations at game speed. The talent did a tremendous job of finishing around the rim. With great ability with both hands, the player has the potential to finish on any defense. The talented player is an exceptional athlete proving to be an advantage on both ends of the floor having athleticism that is in the upper quartile of hoopers. We determined strength to be one of best qualities as a prospect. Combined with the player's great frame, the player will be ahead of schedule in terms of being physically ready to play at the next level. The talent had an impressive motor that we believe will translate well at the next level and from what we saw, the player had a physical and mental toughness that will be coveted at the next level. The player showed excellence on the defensive side of the ball and exemplified individual and team defensive concepts that we highlighted at camp. Karlyn has potential with continued hard work and development both in the classroom and on the hardwood. Can play the PG/SG.
