I am someone who works tirelessly at school and basketball. As the leader of my team I have two responsibilities to help us win. My first responsibility is to ensure I remain eligible academically so I am on the floor. My second responsibility is to ensure I put my teammates in the best possible position to win. I have always been a team first, me second type of player; but there are times as the floor general, that I must shoulder the burden and become more active on the offensive side of the ball. Basketball is a beautiful sport when played the right way. The right way is when your team moves in the same direction for a common goal and not worried about who gets the credit. One of the best things to see is when one of my teammates makes a back door cut and I am able to get them the ball for an easy layup. Or when you come off a pick and roll and your big rolls to the basket for the easy pass and lay in. There is so much to love about basketball and at its heart, it’s a simple game. Players make the game hard and it is my job to make it easy for my teammates and my Coach. The Coach that gives me an opportunity to play at the collegiate level will get someone who is coachable; a leader, unselfish unless that is what is needed at the time, and committed to win.
