Greetings my name is Deric Jamari Lamar Jones; I’ve been raised since my birth by my grandparents who are my legal guardians. They have had such a great influence in my life since day one, especially my Papa Deric L Jones. He has shown me what it means to be a man of great character and integrity. I first became interested in basketball early as a young child. Papa and I spent time in the yard introducing each sport to me, throwing and catching the football and baseball. We played basketball as well as soccer until one day I asked my granny Michelle B Jones could I play basketball for a team; and she signed me up at the Boys and Girls club.
I’ve learned over the years of playing ball that it is a team sport that also helps build character, sportsmanship while overcoming hardships. It also takes hard work and dedication putting in the necessary work on and off the court. My goals for High school is to raise my grade point average to a 90% or above and maintain it through graduation to better my chances of getting into college for recruitment and continue work on my game. As a point guard/ shooting guard I have great court vision with outstanding ball handling skills where I’m able to penetrate the defense to get to the basket or find the open man. I would love to find the right match for me as a player in a system at the college level that fits my game where we both are able to grow to get better.
