"Rise and Rise again till lambs become lions," - Robin Hood. This quote means a lot to me because I can relate to it on a personal level.I can relate to it because in my pre-freshman Summer I was told I would never play at the Varsity level because I was under sized and not skilled enough, but little did they know that very summer I started putting everything I had into basketball just to prove them wrong. I would wake up every day and go to gym because that is what would separate me from the rest, that extra ounce. That year I was a lamb, and I know that as long as I kept getting up I will become a lion . I would eventually make the Varsity team with those very players that told otherwise and became only the 3rd freshman to ever start on the Varsity team.I believe that I have an incredible work ethic and will do any thing and everything to ensure my team will succeed.I make sure my team understands me and each other and the opposing team because as Sun Tzu, author of "The Art of War" once said," if you know yourself and you know the enemy, you shall not fear the result of the hundredth battle".. I don't try till I get it right I keep trying till I don't get it wrong.
1-11 ...that was our record my freshman year...1-11 , personally that number still haunts me to this day.I work hard and gave it my all because I never want a record like that again . Everyday I feel beat and exhausted I just think to my self that I'm doing it for them, that I'm doing it for me. Because that is what is unique about me I work hard because I believe that is the only way you can get anywhere not only in sports but in life.
My goal is to ultimately play sports at the college level. My father and uncle were both remarkable athletes in their own way but neither got very far. My father Monico Rodriguez was a basketball street ball legend ( he couldn't land a starting spot on the varsity team till senior year since he was the same position as the coaches son) and turned down a spot on a division I school in order to support his family by being a janitor. My uncle Lupe Rodriguez was a quarterback and named Mr.Texas football and broke national records such as most touchdowns in a season, but he unfortunately didn't not get time to shine in college, but I want to change thing I want to achieve the goal that no one in my family could, becoming a successful college athlete.
