Personal Statement
I've always wanted to be the best. Now I'm seeing that being the best is more than just being the most talented athlete - it's being the person who can figure it all out: getting good grades, being a good friend, and being a leader in everything I do. I want to be the best athlete, I want to be a good student, I want to be recruited by a great school and go to college and continue to get better and better.
I live in Vermont and I live to play basketball, football and baseball. But Vermont breeds skiers and hockey players- we can't really claim any really famous athletes who came from here and played my sports. I have family in Texas and they have tried to get me to go live there for high school always reminding me that my chances at being successful and recruited by a competitive school are better there.
But I have always wanted to prove I have the ambition, the drive and the talent to make myself stand out where I am. I'm working every day so that I'm worth coming to see and I'll prove that I belong in the best program.
I'm a leader and at the same time I'm an equal to my teammates. They are my family. They make me better and I make them better - that's what families do. At the end of my high school career I'll have made my mark... And I'll be ready to move on, continuing on my own mission to be one of those good guys of sports who other kids from Vermont, and everywhere, can look up to. Everyone will see that through hard work and determination and love of who you are and what you do they can beat their own odds against them and achieve their dreams, too.
Just like that kid from Vermont- Graham Walker.
