When I was five years old, I started playing baseball, soccer, and basketball. Baseball wasn’t the fit for me, and soccer wasn’t an exact match either. Basketball felt normal to me, and I felt connected, so that is what I stuck with. As I got older, people told me that I could be something special if I really work hard at understanding the game, and work on the craftsmanship of the game. I took that as motivation and started working on understanding the game and improving on my skills. I had to sacrifice not going different places and not being able to do things with my friends in order for me to try and reach my potential. What I love to do is playing and learning the game of basketball. As my game continued to improve, I noticed the younger kids started looking up to me. I realized that I could be an example to other kids. I could show them just because you come from a smaller community, doesn’t mean you can’t reach the goals that you set for yourself.
While in high school my goals are to learn as much as I can so I can improve my GPA, this will help me get into college, and also help me with my other goal of playing college basketball. I want to enter the field of Sports Medicine as an Athletic Trainer. No matter what my future holds, I am going to give back to my family and my community to show my appreciation for all that they have done.
