Once you see me play you'll remember me. I stand out, not just because of my ability, but because of my hustle and grind. I can score. I can also fill a role when someone else is hot. I will out rebound my team. I will come up with every loose ball. I will not be selfish. I will make good decisions. I can effectively defend the 1-5 position. I will score when I need to score.
I am the hardest working high school player in the country. During the school week I spend 3 of my mornings (7am-8:20am) in the gym shooting before school. I leave open gym/practice and either head to do skill work with my trainer, Billy Hicks or to the gym for strength and agility training. I want to be quicker than everybody. I want to jump higher than everybody.(currently at 38") I want to be stronger than everybody. I love playing ball and I still make straight A's in advanced studies. I work hard for my success on and off the court.
I haven't always been the leading scorer, rebounder, or whatever.... but I've always found a way to fill the role my team needed. I love basketball. I love my family and I love the Lord. I'm thankful for the opportunities I have been given and I choose to make the most of each of those opportunities.
I've started on our varsity team since I was a freshman. My sophomore year I finished as the second leading scorer on my varsity team. I won the Coaches' Award (voted on by our 4 coaches) (freshman season) and the Heart and Hustle Award (Voted on by my teammates)(freshman and sophomore season). It means a lot to be mentioned by my coach. It means even more that my teammates acknowledge my work ethic, leadership and heart on the court. Those awards have not yet been announced for this past season because of COVID.
I want to play at the highest level in which I can contribute and have an impact on my team. My impact will come from leadership and character on and off the court. My desire to improve and my work ethic are contagious. I hope you'll consider me for a spot on your roster.
