Personal Statement

My goal is to utilize my skills on the court as a launching pad for my college career.  My course of study is still undecided, but I take a special interest in computers and technology.  I have long been seen as the on-court, on-field leader of the various teams and sports I have been a part of (I have played football, soccer, and baseball in addition to my current, singular passion of basketball), and see myself acting as a positive role-model for my future college team as well.  My athletic strengths in basketball are ball handling, smart passing game, and a dependable mid-range shot.  I consistently shoot 80+% from the free throw line.

Director Recommendation

January 7, 2016

Letter of recommendation for Tanner Force

To whom it may concern,

This letter of recommendation is written for Tanner Force with much pleasure because of the potential we feel Tanner has and the positive effect he has on others.

We have interacted over the last two years with this wonderful young man.  As the basketball director and trainer for Tanner at NSE Titans, we’ve watched him be involved with practices, games, fundraisers, community and school events and his interaction with fellow teammates has been phenomenal.  He is very punctual, has solid team work ethics, good leadership qualities, and is a good person of character.  He applies himself to what he is learning and strives to become better at what he does.

Outside the gym we’ve seen these same characteristics demonstrated by Tanner as he interacts within the community.  Tanner is always willing to volunteer, take control, and get the job done which is hard to find sometimes within this age group of kids.

Tanner displays high academic achievements, is well-liked by all, and is the most consistent player currently on his team.  We are proud to have him as a part of our program and to assist him to continue to achieve his goals in life.

Club Information

  • Seasons of Club Experience
  • 2 seasons
  • 2016 i-ball (AAU)
  • Heavy emphasis on skills development and game play. The club format allows me to train and practice weekly with up to U17 players. This has benefited me greatly by forcing me to up my game.
  • 2015 North Sound Elite (NSE) Titans
  • NSE is primarily a training organization with emphasis on ball handling, shot mechanics, and strength and agility training. We choose NSE, in part, because of this constant emphasize on skill development.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • Maximum Exposure Basketball clinic
  • 10/24/15 to 10/24/15
  • The Maximum Exposure event was a VERY fun clinic filled with plenty of game play with talented players. The atmosphere was encouraging and fun although very demanding. All activities were under the supervision and instruction of local junior college coaches and director, a former NBA player, Dan Mooney. His input regarding basketball and recruiting were invaluable. All other participants were of high school age and most were upper class men. The clinic gave me an opportunity to prove that I can perform in a varsity setting although currently in 8th grade.
  • Camp/Event
  • Zach Lavane Skills Camp
  • 8/17/15 to 8/20/15
  • Strong skills development camp with intense scrimmages under the watchful eye of Zach Lavine. It was exciting to have Zach cheer for my several, successive 3-point makes and he described my ball handling abilities as "Very strong."
  • Camp/Event
  • Tony Wroten Skills Academy
  • 8/06/15 to 8/08/15
  • Predominantly scrimmage play with many of the best players in Seattle metro.
  • Camp/Event
  • Sultan High School Basketball Camp
  • 7/21/15 to 7/23/15
  • A camp almost entirely focused on advanced skills development, led by several college-age alumni, including Jordan Nicholes who plays professionally internationally. My performance was notably stand-out at this camp.

Training

  • North Sound Elite (NSE) Titans
  • 2 years
  • I attend two in-house training sessions weekly combining time with a certified trainer for strength & agility training, as well as with coaches for intensive ball handling drills. This is in addition to weekly team practices for NSE and open gym scrimmages with my school district's high school varsity team up to four mornings a week before school. During the Fall, I play for my middle school basketball team, as well. I am currently captain of the varsity squad.
  • i-ball
  • 1 year
  • Group training sessions twice weekly.
