Who knew that diving would be such a character-building experience?  Through my seven years of diving, I have learned the values of focus, determination, and perseverance.  I have become disciplined, and I have learned to control my nerves in order to power through moments of high pressure and indecision.

I have been told by my wise coaches that I possess the right combination of natural ability and coach-ability.  Within a year of joining this sport, I received a gold medal on platform and two silvers in the springboard events at Age Group Nationals.  Perhaps my biggest diving achievement is when I won a gold medal in all three events at Age Group Nationals in 2013.  My diving career was going well until my back injury in 2015 at AT&T Nationals, where I was prequalified to semifinals on all three boards.  By the next year, I finaled at CIF State Championships, achieved All-American, and received another gold medal on platform at AAU Nationals.

However all-consuming diving has become in my life, I have still managed to balance my practice schedule and my school work load over the years.  I am very interested in attending a university that has an excellent academic program, specifically in biological sciences, which are the classes that I have enjoyed most in high school.  I am not exactly sure what my major will be, other than that it will be biology-related.  I do think that the skills I've acquired through diving have helped me control my rigorous schedule at school, and I plan to utilize them in college academics as well.

I believe that my dedication to diving, my coach-ability, and my willingness to always improve myself will make me an excellent student athlete in college.  My dreams are big, but I know that with my focus and the right atmosphere, I will be able to reach my goals both in and out of the water.
