Personal Statement
Freshman year I missed qualifying for the Illinois state championship by one place (49th). This motivated me mentally and physically to prepare next year to achieve that goal. As a sophomore, in 2018, I qualified for the state meet but had a weak performance, placing 46th. I trained harder to push my limits to see what my potential could be within a year. Junior year, (2019), my coach, my teammate and I, together built upon my strengths to achieve the best scoring set possible. The hard work paid off. I qualified for finals and placed 12th in the state of Illinois. It was one of the best moments of my life and inspires me to upgrade and enhance my dives this upcoming senior year.
Thinking back to how I started diving began in my own backyard. When I was about 14 I started getting into trampoline just fooling around with friends and having fun. Unexpectedly, I started picking up on doubles, then triples. I attended the GRT Trampoline Games in California. It showcased me and the top 50 best freestyle trampolinists in the country. Tramp was the building block that had helped me get a feel for flipping, twisting and performing difficult dives. I’m driven to challenge myself to evolve every day; always making adjustments to improve.
