Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Ashton and I'm a Junior with the Mooresville, Indiana Pioneers. During the last year, I've spent a lot of time thinking of what I'd like to do with the rest of my life and narrowed it down to two fields: Business/Marketing and Law Enforcement. My goal is to protect others and help people, both of which could be accomplished with these fields of study. This desire was strengthened when I attended the FBI Youth Academy in July and discovered how imperative my academic success was to my lifelong goal. What makes me a good candidate for your dive team? First, I am a people-person. I am very open to different types of personalities and I enjoy meeting new people. Second, I feel very comfortable being a part of a team, but am also willing to step up and become a leader. What sets me apart from other recruits? Three things come to mind: Character, Athletic Dedication, and Academic Determination. First, Character: I am not afraid to stand up for myself or others in difficult situations. I value the morals my parents have instilled in me- these are the foundation I turn to when faced with hard issues. I also enjoy mentoring/assisting younger athletes to achieve their goals. Second, Athletic Dedication: since first stepping on the board in seventh grade, I have overcome many obstacles and fears. I work hard at practice every day and give 110% to achieve my goals. However, I also know my limitations and listen to my body to avoid injury. Lastly, Academic Determination: to be honest, I have struggled at times to maintain an excellent GPA. However, this past summer I spent time focusing on my academic weaknesses and worked toward identifying how to overcome them. I'm happy to say that my GPA is now holding steady at 3.4 and climbing with each test I study for and ace. I am determined to maintain this academic momentum throughout the remainder of my high school career and into college.
