Personal Statement
My name is Brennan Tailfeathers, a 6'1 native american golfer from the southern regions of Alberta. I have competed in competitive golf tournaments for roughly 5 years now, still continuing to grind and work on all asepcts of my game.
I started golfing when I was 8 years old, but didn't really go by myself and practice until I was 13. The age I got my first membership at Paradise Canyon Golf Club. Starting at a 20+ handicap, I have been able to push my game to a +3 handicap in 6 years with no true coach or swing lessons. I have worked for every bit of success I've received in my golfing career. With the limited time in the annual golf season(alberta conditions), I have grown to be appreciative of the time I do get on the course. I am very interested to continue my golfing career collegiately, as I have gained a love for the game that will never go away.
Athletically speaking, I have been gifted with skills in multiple sports such as Hockey, Baseball, Basketball, and Cross-Country. Growing up a multi-sport athlete and receiving success in the sports that I've played has moved me into the category of being a role model in my community. Having dozens of young nephews and nieces, cousins and siblings has made me develop a hard work ethic so that I may continue being a role model and provide a generation of success for the Blood Tribe Reserve. Academically, I have been gifted with natural intelligence and problem solving that has lead me to a spot on the honor roll for most of my secondary school classes. Finally I have developed a natural work ethic learnt from the added workload with Covid-19 in highschool. Finishing the last 2 years of Highschool online have provided me with the skills needed to become a successful student-athlete.
I am currently working my heart out trying to save up for next year to head away for collegiate golf. I hope to gain a scholarshipped roster spot on a team looking for a leader and a competitor. I am excited as a student athlete for the academic portion as the student comes first, and the athlete comes second. I am also excited with progressing my golfing ability as I look to become a true scratch golfer over the next 4-6 years. I am looking to discuss student athlete oppurtunities for the fall of 2022, and I believe I would be a fit for most institutions.
2022 update: I am currently playing the most solid golf I have played in my life up to this point. I beat my personal low of 66 by shooting a 2 day score of 64-66 at my homecourse Paradise Canyon Golf Resort. I am averaging around 74.3 to start the season off and I am currently looking to go lower and lower. I recently had a rough tournament at my homecourse Paradise Canyon Golf Resort where i shot 76-76 while only making one birdie for the weekend. No matter the score, I will take positives for the weekend and will be looking forward to improve upon my success!
