Personal Statement
I strive for success in everything I do. I am a strong student. I am a multisport athlete, but golf is my passion. Golf is the most challenging yet rewarding sport I have ever played. My goal is to attend a competitive academic college or university and to play on the golf team. I know how to balance my time between schoolwork and sports. I have spent much of weekends, after school time, and summers on the golf course since I was in elementary school. Flagstaff is a 4 season climate, and much of the year, I go to Sedona and Phoenix to golf. As a junior, I am on the Varsity golf team for my high school.
I began playing in golf tournaments when I was 12 years old. I was not the best player in the field, but I learned, worked harder, and got better. My parents always tell me that tenacity beats early talent, and the player who works hard and continues to improve is the long term winner.
In addition to playing golf, I have played club and school basketball since I was in elementary school. Playing on many different basketball teams, I have learned how to be a positive teammate and a hard working individual towards team goals. I enjoy being a part of a team, on the golf course, on the basketball court, and in the classroom. This year, as a junior, I am on the Varsity team
Why go for golf rather than basketball in college? In short, I would rather be golfing than doing anything else. Thank you for taking the time to consider me.
