Personal Statement
My name is Grant Shelman and I am currently a junior at Hazen High School. I have played golf my entire life and love the game unconditionally. Not only do I have a very passionate love for the game, but I also have a very good work ethic. I am always working in some sort of way to improve my game, whether that is going to the gym and working out, or out on the golf course practicing. I have been named All-Conference and All-State 2 years and this past year I won the 6-2A State Championship as an individual. I shot a 67 (-4) to win the tournament by 2 strokes. As of right now my current handicap is a 0.1. I am interested in playing at the college level because I am a very big competitor, and I want to keep competing as long as I can. One other thing about myself, is that I am a leader. Ever since the 9th grade I have been the #1 player on my team. My teammates, older or younger, have always looked to me to seek guidance. Not only do I work hard on the golf course, but I also work hard in the classroom. My current GPA is a 3.9. I know that for me to be able to play golf competitively then I need to keep my grades up as much as I can, and that is what I do. Also, I am a member of Sr. High Beta Club, Student Council, and I am the Vice President of my class.
