Personal Statement
I became interested in golf at the age of 14 when my step-father took me to the golf course one evening. Since then, I have made every effort to get my golf game to where it is today. I have always worked hard for what I am passionate about. I played travel baseball for 7 years and played recreational as well as travel soccer for 11 years. Golf is no exception to my hard work. In my first High School tournament as a 9th grader, I shot 114. Since that day, I have worked with my golf coach to learn the proper techniques in all areas of the game- full swing, wedge play, chipping and putting. Each year since I have started playing golf, I have steadily continued to improve my scores and consistency. My current average score is 75, and I'm striving a become a scratch golfer. I am very coachable and I am willing to work hard to achieve a change. I am the first one to the course and the last one to leave, because in my mind greatness isn't granted, it is earned through hard work.
As of right now I am planning to study Computer Science in college. Computing and computer technology are a part of everything we do. In High School I have taken several Computer Science courses, and I became excited learning about basic coding and how to create programs. I believe with all the technological progress made in the last decade, getting a degree in this field will give me a higher chance of getting a steady and successful job in the real world as a programmer. I hope to attend a college where I can excel in the classroom and on the golf course.
