Personal Statement
While I was introduced to golf at a young age, I was involved in a number of other sports and did not start playing seriously until high school. I believe that dedicating myself to golf at a later age is an advantage, as my passion and enthusiasm for the sport is very high. Over the last three years, I have pushed myself very hard to become a great player and a team leader. The results came fairly quickly, as I played well enough as a Freshman to be named all league and was asked to be captain and was named our MVP as a Sophomore. While I remain excited about high school golf, I'm certainly looking to step up to a higher level of competition over the following months. I believe that I have improved at a rapid pace and will continue to do so. I've taken steps through instruction and a diligent practice regime to insure that my ceiling as a player is as high as possible and fully expect to be a plus handicap player coming out of high school. I've always excelled under pressure in all sports, which I believe is at least part of why I enjoy competitive golf so much.
Academics are a priority for me. I'm highly interested in attending and graduating from a college which emphasizes both academics and athletics. I also love art and have excelled in ceramics. I am currently in my third year in this art form and plan to continue throughout high school and possibly beyond. Ceramics has taught me patience and precision, two disciplines which I have little doubt will translate to me being a better player and student.
Most importantly, I like to believe that I am a good person. One that is thoughtful, engaging, funny and affable. The type of person that others want to be around and the type of person that a university would be proud to have representing their institution in the classroom, on the field and out in the world.
