I have been playing golf for only 3 years and have already qualified and competed in the 5A State Boys Tournament by finishing 3rd in our North Metro State Qualifier in 2010 with a score of 73. I took 2nd in Regional Qualifier in 2011 with a 71 out of 60 players. Prior to dedicating my athletic interests to golf in my freshman year of high school, I played numerous other sports including basketball, baseball, and soccer. However, because of my interest in golf my freshman year, I put the other sports aside and have placed all my efforts into practicing year round to become the best player I can be. Competing in golf at the collegiate level and beyond is my dream. After my senior year (2012), I will have lettered all four years at one of the top golf high schools in Colorado (Mountain Range High School), coached by Tom Norfolk. I have continued to improve at a steady and deliberate pace through practice and hard work. I credit such improvement to focus, diligent preparation and the experience I have gained at each level of competition. I have worked hard on my game through physical and mental preparation and time well spent with my swing coach Ed Oldham ( Golf Digest top 10 in the country).
I also enjoy competing in the classroom and I carry a GPA of 3.667 while taking primarily AP and CP (non-weighted at our school) classes. I have been a member of my school's Honor Society and my favorite volunteer work was assembling, fixing and preparing bicycles for last year's Christmas delivery to disadvantaged children. The promise I have made to myself is that the college I choose as my "home", I will not only make the golf team "much better", but the community it resides in "much better" as well.
