I am currently a rising Senior at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. I have been a member of the golf team since I began at IMG in the Spring of 2021.
My family moved to Florida from Minnesota in 2021. Before we moved, I had only golfed occasionally with my dad, friends or in smaller club tournaments. I was primarily a hockey forward and a baseball pitcher. In the summer of 2020 I contracted a serious staph infection and had to take time away from those sports. This was also at the height of the Covid pandemic. Due to these factors my family went to Florida so I could work on my golf game and go to in person school.
I have been committed to my golf game ever since. Early in my time at IMG, I was asked to join the baseball team in a "Pitcher Only" role but did not want to lose focus on my improving golf game. Over the past 2 years I have dropped 12 strokes off my scoring average and won "Most Improved Player" in my sophomore year. I know that my game will continue to evolve, especially considering that I have only been committed and really putting in the work to the sport for 3 years. I look forward to my continued progress into my senior year of high school.
My academic goals in high school are are to continue to push myself farther than I think I can go. I have taken 3 AP classes and 5 Honors classes since my sophomore year. I am taking 3 AP classes and another Honors class in my senior year.
I am a member of the Model United Nations Club at IMG and traveled to NYC for the annual Model UN Conference where members from across the world met to discuss and debate global issues. I also joined a group of peers on a historical art & architecture program in Italy in the Spring of 2024. I have been in the chess club at IMG since I started school there but have been playing in clubs & casually since I was 5 years old.
I am looking for a school that will be academically challenging to me as I aspire to be on a Pre-Med track. I have been told that I am very "coachable" and I am looking forward to finding a team and coach that will help me continue to improve my game and will allow me to be a contributing member of the golf team. I know that I can be a great addition to a college team based upon my upward trajectory in the sport, my positive attitude and my team mentality.
