Personal Statement
In August 2019, my family moved to South Florida (my dad’s company asked him to spend more time in South Florida) for the school year and I’ve decided to reclassify myself as a graduate of the Class of 2021. I made the decision to reclassify for four reasons: (i) most importantly we wanted to stay together as a family, (ii) I was accepted into one of the top private schools in the country – “The Pine Crest School” in Fort Lauderdale (they were recently ranked No.3 on The Washington Post's "America's Most Challenging High Schools" list) and their age cut off is April 1st (my birthday is in mid-July) – if I would have entered as a senior I would have been the youngest senior in the grade, (iii) repeating my junior year allowed me to take more advanced classes (I’m taking four Advanced Placement courses which were not offered at my previous high school) and (iv) I will be able to work on continuing to improve my golf game all year around over the next two years (we will be in South Florida for the school year and back on Long Island, NY during the summer months).
I made the Varsity Golf team at Pine Crest School (District Champions'15, '16, '17, '18, Regional Champions'16, Florida State Finals'14, '15, '16) and was both the #1 and #2 player throughout the season. As a team we made it through to the Regionals but fell short of reaching the States. Individually I received an honorable mention by the Sun Sentinel to their "Varsity Boy's Golf All County Team" and was awarded the "Panther Award" for Varsity Golf (Pine Crest's all around player award). I’m very excited to be part of a highly competitive high school golf program and so far his has been a great experience.
