Personal Statement
I'm different than most kids my age. I do not communicate on social media platforms, I look people in the eye when I speak with them, and I love any good western movie.
My name is Davis Bagwell, and I am a homeschooled junior in Monroe, Georgia. I play school golf for the HALO Wolfpack, a homeschool athletic organization. I started playing golf at the age of four, and my dream is to compete on the PGA Tour one day. My goal for college is to play for a university with a history of helping student-athletes reach their academic and athletic goals.
I love competing, and I love pressure—the more people watching, the better. I don't get scared on the golf course and get excited when I play well under the pressure of a tournament. I also enjoy playing against better kids, understanding that playing with good players makes me better. I kept my emotions under control and was warned from an early age by my parents that a bad attitude and throwing clubs would not be tolerated.
I've played many team sports, including golf, baseball, basketball, and flag football. I've always respected my coaches and supported and encouraged my teammates. I understand and embrace the commitment needed to take a person's golf game to the next level. I genuinely enjoy practicing and spend many days working on my game until dark. I apply the same commitment and hard work to academics. As a result, I've built a solid academic foundation that I know will help me earn a college degree in four years.
