Growing up on a golf course and surrounded by family who play golf, golf quickly became a passion of mine. I started playing competitively in 7th grade, roughly 5 years ago. I’ve been taking lessons with Rick Sellers for 3 years, including during the winter at an indoor facility. Sellers is a partner with the Golf Channel Academy and an Illinois PGA Teacher of the year. Two of his students include D.A. Points and Peter Jacobsen.
Up until high school, I played baseball, football, basketball, and ran track, but decided to give up all except golf and basketball to pursue my dreams of playing college golf. I started working at my local country club as a cart boy two summers ago. When I’m not in school, at practice, playing golf, or working, I can usually be found relaxing with friends and family.
I’ve learned that I’m a very competitive golfer. My goal when I step on the course is to win every tournament I play. I understand as a college coach you’re not only looking for talent, but also someone who treats the game and others with respect, on and off the course. I can be that player and person for you - I'll always be a student of the game.
Sincerely,
Jack Halstead
